THE NIMMO TECHNIQUE

The Nimmo Technique is a manual procedure that allows the doctor to locate, treat and eliminate trigger points with his hands.

Trigger Points are areas of concentrated lactic acid that accumulate within muscle fibers. The concentration of lactic acid causes the muscle fibers to tighten and pull on the joint. Trigger points usually build up over time. They can be caused by many factors. Some of these factors are repetitive motion, improper lifting and/or bending, stress or even bad posture.

Trigger points may cause referred pain or numbness/tingling in/or down the arms, legs, wrists, feet, fingers, or toes, as well as being the cause of headaches, TMJ problems, neck pain, pain in the shoulders, pseudocarpal tunnel syndrome, upper, mid and lower back pain, hip, knee pain, plantar fasciitis and many other musculoskeletal problems.

The Activator Method uses a gentle force instrument that effects the body's proprioceptive system. The proprioceptive system is the division of the nervous system that monitors the movement, balance and position of the body.

Testimonials

From Dr. Whitfield's patients...

"I've been to several chiropractors, and Dr. Brian is by far the best. Everyone in my family has seen him. He has helped us with pain and stiffness due to sports injuries, fibromyalgia, and long hours driving, gardening, or typing. He listens to where it hurts and customizes each treatment accordingly. He has an amazing knowledge of physiology, and can explain how it works in a way that is easily understandable, which is handy to avoid re-injury. Plus he is down-to-earth and upbeat. I recommend him to anyone complaining of pain and have received many thanks for doing so."
